What to Bring

We recommend that you pack light. Use a rollaboard type luggage (e.g.,TravelPro Rollaboard Luggage, www.travelpro.com, the 25 in. model) and expect to do some laundry. It is better to bring a little extra cash to buy a few unmet clothing needs than trying to pack for every possible weather or fashion contingency. Remember, you are your own porter, working without tips!

Beyond the normal stuff (underwear, socks, shirts, pants, dresses, etc.), also pack:

  • Sweatshirt and light gloves
  • Bathing suit
  • Comfortable shoes for lots of walking
  • Your video camera: Each challenge requires that you record a short 30-60 second video for the judges. If you don't already have a video camera, we suggest using a Flip Video recorder. They are small and very simple to use.
  • Your own laptop or portable device (or if you prefer local Internet Cafe computer) to access your virtual mission packet and research your challenges on travel guides and third party travel review websites like TripAdvisor, VirtualTourist, GoNomad and others. .
  • Your own cellphone for easy communication in case of an emergency and for making trip activity reservations where necessary.

For your daily needs while touring, a small backpack with room for your video camera, battery, computer or PDA, snacks and bottled water should be sufficient.

"Each night, we couldn’t wait to find out what country we would be going to the next day. At breakfast, we would trade funny stories. At the bar late in the day, we would howl at each other’s videos."
