Competitours

In 2004, company principal Steve Belkin (pictured to the right with his supportive wife, Julie) participated in a 23 day, 4 continent, 10 country Global Scavenger Hunt™. It was truly a once in a lifetime trip that he would heartily recommend for folks who have the time and money. That trip inspired Steve to conceive of Competitours – a more streamlined, slower paced and affordable twist on the travel competition concept.

Competitours is only the most recent precedent-setting project for Belkin. Belkin’s unique hobby, collecting frequent flyer miles, is another reason for starting Competitours. His expertise in understanding (and some may say, even ‘gaming’!) the frequent flyer mileage system, has resulted in earning and redeeming over 27 million miles worth of First and Business Class international airline tickets. With such a mileage arsenal, no part of the world has gone untouched by Belkin – Kenya, Morocco, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil, Sri Lanka, China, India, Continental Europe, Cook Islands, Maldives. His mileage exploits have been covered by USA Today, CNN, ‘Money’ magazine, Toronto Globe and Mail, Inside Flyer magazine, the documentary Frequent Flyer and New Zealand Herald.

Belkin stunned the national television marketplace when his start-up production and syndication company, Beau & Arrow Productions, launched a three year run of KWIK WITZ, a quasi-improv comedy game show that provided ground level exposure for future top-shelf comedy talent like Steve Carell (“The Office”), Wayne Brady (“Whose Line Is It Anyway”), Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding"), Jack McBrayer (“30 Rock”), Alex Borstein, Stephanie Weir, (“MAD TV”), and Jackie Hoffman (“Hairspray” on Broadway), among others.

Belkin also owned and operated a regional television and radio production and marketing company, Sports Media Management (SMM), for 14 years. SMM’s media roster included Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike Holmgren, Packer players Reggie White, Brett Favre, Ahman Green, Kabeer G’baja Biamilla and Robert Brooks, and Milwaukee Bucks Head Coaches Mike Dunleavy and Chris Ford.

Belkin graduated from University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He was the Road Manager for Westwood One Radio Networks newly created Music Sponsorship division, supervising the Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan/Tom Petty, Genesis and Triumph tours, before jumping over to the talent agency side of the business. He was responsible for crossing  the rock music roster into film and television acting, soundtracks and scoring.

"Exciting and novel ideas in the travel experience are few and far between. That is why we applaud innovator Steve Belkin who felt it was time to shake things up. Competitours creates an amazing and affordable 21st century race for regular travelers in search of the fun and quirky."
